Rob Macrory- Owner, Instructor

The founding owner of Capital Strike Zone, Coach Macrory is a Montgomery, AL native and a 1993 graduate of Jefferson Davis High School where he led the Volunteers to the 1993 6A state championship while garnering All-Metro Player of the Year honors. He then went on to letter 4 seasons at Auburn University for legendary Coach Hal Baird where he played on two College World Series teams in 1994 and 1997 as a second baseman with the dynamic offensive capabilities of driving the ball to all fields and blazing speed. Macrory was drafted in 1997 by the St. Louis Cardinals and played 4 seasons in the Cardinals' organization before an injury forced him to retire. He then spent 2 years as an assistant coach at Auburn University under Coach Steve Renfroe from 2001-2002 before returning to Montgomery as a hitting coach to build Capital Strike Zone and raise a family. He has been coaching hitters for 12 years, and has seen many of his former students move on to play college or professional baseball. Coach Macrory and his wife Vivi reside in Pike Road and have 2 sons, Preston (9) and Hutson (6).
Ben Weber - Pitching Instructor

Coach Weber is a native of Port Arthur, TX and graduated from Port Naches-Groves High School in 1988. After a stellar high school career, he signed a baseball scholarship at the University of Houston where as a junior, he was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1991. Weber spent 6 seasons in the Blue Jays organization, one season with the independent Salinas Peppers, then 2 seasons in the Taiwan Major Leagues before signing with the San Francisco Giants in 1999. He made his Major League debut on April 3, 2000 at 30 years of age, a testament to his determination and resiliency. He was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in August of 2000, and his career as a dominant Major League reliever took off. He spent 4 seasons with the Angels as a middle reliever and setup man in the bullpen with the likes of Troy Percival, Francisco Rodriguez, and Brendan Donnelly. Known for his aggressive pitching style, hard-sinking fastball, and deceptive slider and changeup, Weber helped the Angels defeat Barry Bonds and the San Francisco Giants in the 2002 World Series. He went on to pitch with the Cincinnati Reds, Toronto Blue Jays, and Houston Astros before retiring in 2007. After his retirement from baseball, he earned his doctorate of chiropractic degree. Dr. Ben Weber is now also a practicing chiropractor at Health Star Chiropractic in Montgomery where he treats patients for myriad problems including sports injuries. Dr. Weber and his wife Marisa reside in Montgomery with their three children Chloe, Alexis, and Jack.  
Drew Hull - Pitching/Hitting Instructor

Coach Hull is a native of Auburn, AL where he graduated from Auburn High School in 2007 after earning 1st-Team All-Area honors as a junior and senior. He signed to play at Troy University as a two-way player, playing middle infield and pitching. Hull made an instant impact as a freshman out of the Trojan bullpen, appearing in 26 games and posting a 5-0 record in one of the best Division I conferences in the country. He became a weekend starter as a junior, and helped lead Troy to the Sun Belt Conference championship game in 2010. As a senior in 2011, Hull earned All-Sun Belt Conference honors and led the Trojans to the Sun Belt Conference championship and an NCAA regional bid in Nashville, TN at Vanderbilt University. After setting the all-time Troy University record for career pitching appearances, an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery cost him an opportunity to pitch professionally. Hull earned a bachelor's degree in Business from Troy University in 2012. Drew and his wife Kristen reside in Pike Road, AL.
Jeff Crane- Owner, General Manager, Instructor

Coach Crane is a Montgomery, AL native and a 1988 graduate of Jefferson Davis High School where he helped lead the Volunteers to the 1987 6A state championship, earning All-Metro honors in 1987-88. After playing one season at Cleveland State Community College, he went on to play 3 seasons at the University of Alabama where he was part of an NCAA regional team in 1991 and earned ALL-SEC Academic Team honors in 1993. Crane began his coaching career as a graduate assistant coach for the Crimson Tide in 1994, then went on to coach infielders, catchers, and hitters at the University of Alabama in Huntsville from 1995-2000. As recruiting coordinator at UAH, Crane coached 6 All-Americans and saw 3 teams make an NCAA regional. He then spent 6 years as a Major League area scout for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim during which time he scouted all of parts of 10 states in the southeast and east coast. Crane returned to coaching from 2006-2010 as the pitching coach at Troy University where he coached two Sun Belt Conference Pitchers of the Year. Crane has coached 26 players who have signed professional contracts, and signed 14 players to professional contracts as a scout with the Angels. Crane and his wife Shannon reside in Pike Road and have one son, Jack (5), and a daughter, Ava (3).
Logan Pierce - Hitting Instructor

Coach Pierce is a native of Troy, AL where he graduated from Charles Henderson High School in 2008 after earning All-State honors as a senior third baseman. He played his freshman season at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa where he hit .414 and led the Bucaneers to the Alabama state title and a berth in the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, CO. He then signed at Troy University where he started for three seasons as a corner infielder, earning All-Sun Belt Conference honors as a junior and senior. He was also named to both the Louisville Slugger and College Baseball Insider All-American Teams in 2013. Pierce topped off his stellar college career by being selected in the MLB draft by the Philadelphia Phillies. He completed his first professional season in September, 2013 in the New York-Penn League playing for the Phillies short season A affiliate, the Williamsport Crosscutters. In addition to his accomplishments as a player, his background and knowledge of the game of baseball is bolstered by his father, Alabama Baseball Coaches Association Hall-of-Fame Coach Bobby Pierce, currently the Head Coach at Troy University. Pierce, who resides in Troy, will coach at Capital Strike Zone in the off-season until he reports to spring training in March.
Ricky Bowen - Pitching/Hitting Instructor

Coach Bowen is a Jasper, AL native where he graduated from Sumiton Christian School in 2005. After earning All-State honors as a junior and senior at Sumiton Christian, he signed at Mississippi State University where he earned freshman All-American honors in 2007, and pitched as a weekend starter in the tough SEC as a sophomore and junior. Bowen was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2009 MLB draft, and spent 5 years professionally in the Reds and Minnesota Twins organizations. The hard-throwing right hander retired as a player in 2013, and is competing his bachelor's degree in education at Mississippi State University. Bowen and his wife Kellye, a volleyball coach at St. James School who also played volleyball at Mississippi State University, reside in Montgomery and are currently the proud parents of a chocolate labrador retriever named Duke.
